“…Allis…”

A flash of concerned eyes.

“…Please wake up…”

A small pressure on your hand.

“…Please…”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
      Your eyes slowly opened, revealing the dreary place you called home. Dim morning light filtered through the dirty windows of your bedroom, illuminating the stains of the worn carpet below. Slowly you pushed yourself up out of bed, stretching your sore muscles with a groan. You glanced in the mirror, grimacing at what you saw. Dark circles ringed your (e/c) eyes, and your (h/c) hair was ruffled up and messy from your night of tossing and turning.
      “These dreams are bad enough.” You grumbled to yourself, “Now I look as crappy as I feel.”
      As you slowly trudged to the bathroom, your mind flashed back to your last few nights of unrest. You had been having nightmares lately, but you could never remember what happened in them. It was weighing heavily on your mind, and you had several mornings where you woke with tears on your face. Needless to say, it wasn’t helping your already poor circumstances. Your mother had been a volunteer firefighter. When she was pulling some residents to safety in a burning house, some of the ceiling had collapsed on her. By the time the other firefighters got to her, she had already passed. Only a few weeks later, your father was hit by a drunk driver on his way home from work, killing him instantly. After that you were put up for adoption. It seemed no one wanted a kid as old as you though, and the orphanage kicked you out once you turned 18. Since then you had been trying to make ends meet with various jobs that were willing to hire someone like you.
      After brushing your teeth and managing to tame your hair into something presentable, you stepped over to your closet, searching for something to wear. Pulling on some casual clothes you headed to your door, carefully stepping over the piles of trash that seemed to accumulate in your apartment. You really should do something about that. Today was your day off though, and you intended to spend it out in the fresh air. As you turned to close the door behind you, a familiar voice spoke up in the hallway.
      “Good morning, (Y/n).” You turned to smile at your neighbor, Mrs. Wilson.
      “Morning.” You greeted back, locking your door.
      “What are you up to this early? I thought you had today off?” She asked.
      “I do,” You answered, “But I’m not going to spend the whole day inside.”
      “Well, the weather is supposed to be nice today. Oh! I almost forgot,” The older lady suddenly began searching her large bag she had hung from her arm. You raised an eyebrow quizzically.
      “Here,” She said, pulling out a small wrapped package, “I had a little left over from when my daughter visited, so I thought you might like some.”
      You gently took the bag, opening it slightly and peering inside. A small smile appeared on your face. It was nothing other than Mrs. Wilson’s famous caramels.
      “Thank-you.” You said, glancing back up from the bag.
      She merely smiled, “Anytime. Take care.”
      “I will.” You waved as she disappeared into her apartment opposite yours.
      Your mood improved from the small gift, you cheerfully walked down the hall towards the street, pulling out a small caramel to munch on. It really was a nice day out. The bright sky made a nice change of pace from your rather dull apartment. Since your job took up almost the entire day, you only really saw the sky at night anymore. Blue was definitely better than black, especially since the light pollution blocked any stars.
      “I should move to the country.” You mumbled sarcastically to yourself, “Start my own farm. Become a hermit. Then I could see the stars.”
      You popped another caramel into your mouth. Glancing back down from the sky, you noticed you were in front of the library. It had been a while since you had made time to read a book. Shrugging, you stepped inside, greeting the librarian at the door. Immediately the smell of paper and binding surrounded you, and you let out a small, content sigh. You wandered past the aisles, noting how quiet it was, even for a library.
      ‘Everyone’s probably outside enjoying the weather.’
      You shrugged, at least it meant you had the books to yourself for a while. Wandering over to the manga section, you scanned the titles, trailing your finger across the spines. You paused as your finger reached Attack on Titan. A couple years ago you had been absolutely fanatic about the series. Of course, once you had to get a job and support yourself, you didn’t really have any free time on your hands to read it.
      ‘Now’s as good a time as any.’
      You pulled off the last few books off the shelves, starting from where you had left off years ago. Before you knew it, you were closing the latest chapter, books strewn around you carelessly. You stood from your spot on the floor, stretching out your cramped muscles with a groan. You stooped to pick up the books, placing them back on the shelf. Glancing at the clock, you froze. Was it really already 2:00? You shook your head, how had you managed to miss lunch?
      ‘Oh, the caramels…’
      The bag of sweets lay on the floor next to you, completely empty. Oh well, at least you saved money on actual food. You would just need to make it up during dinner. Waving a goodbye to the librarian, you stepped back out into the sunlight. Or rather, what was supposed to be sunlight.
      “Seriously?” You groaned at the rain clouds, “The forecast didn’t say anything about this!”
      You walked along the sidewalk, glaring at the clouds. You wanted to be mad at the books for distracting you while the nice weather had lasted, but you couldn’t hate books. Books were awesome. A small drop of water landed on your nose, causing you to flinch slightly. Great. You didn’t have an umbrella. You sighed and turned back around to your apartment. So much for a relaxing day outside. At least you didn’t have work to do or anything.
      You froze as a small light reflected out of a nearby alley. You glanced around, no one else was on the street. Creeping slowly around the corner, your eyes widened as you spotted the light source. It almost looked like a flat panel of light had replaced a section of the brick wall. You crept closer to it. Something about it seemed… familiar, but you couldn’t place what it was. You slowly reached out your hand to touch it. Surprisingly, you were met with nothing but air, and your hand sank straight through. You let out a yelp and flinched back.
      “What the hell is this thing?” You muttered.
      You screamed as a small hand reached out, glowing the same as the panel. Before you could flinch away, it latched onto your wrist and began pulling you. You tugged against it, but whatever it was, it was strong. Your shoes scraped against the ground as you furiously tried to pull yourself away. You screamed again as the hand disappeared back into the light, taking your arm with it. You gave one glance behind you, calling out for help, but no one was there. With one last pull, you felt yourself fall forward, and the light engulfed you.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

      You groaned as you regained consciousness. Blinking your eyes open, you flinched as light assaulted your face. As your eyes adjusted, you looked around the small room you were in. You were in a small bed you didn’t recognize, in clothes you didn’t recognize, in a room you didn’t recognize. So you did the only logical thing there was to do. Scream. Loudly.

      A few people burst into the room, and you reflexively flinched. You jumped out of bed, intending to run past the people in the room. Or rather, you tried to. Your abdomen flared with pain, causing you to curl up and crash onto the floor in a heap. Immediately, one of the figures bent over to help you, and you tried to crawl away, backing into the wall.

      “Allis! Calm down! It’s alright!” One of them commanded. You froze. You knew that voice. Slowly you glanced up at the faces of the figures, paling at what you saw.

      “H-Hanji?” You stuttered in disbelief.

      She seemed to let out a small sight of relief, “Good, it doesn’t look like you have amnesia.”

      “B-But you’re…” You trailed off, eyes still wide.

      “Here, let’s get you back in bed. Your injuries still haven’t healed yet.” Slowly, she lifted you off the floor, placing you back on the soft mattress.

      You glanced at all the people in the room, silent with shock. This couldn’t be real. Hanji stood to your right, and at the foot of the bed stood several familiar faces. Eren, Jean, Mikasa, Armin, even Sasha and Connie were there.

      “Glad to see you awake, you gave us quite a scare.” Mikasa remarked, folding her arms.

      “Everyone’s going to be so excited to see you.” Armin added.

      “This can’t be real…” You mumbled, pinching your face, “Come-on, wake up!”

      Hanji pulled your hands from your face, “You are awake, Allis.”

      You turned to her, confusion on your face, “Who’s Allis?”

      The room suddenly grew tense. What had you said? Why were they all calling you Allis anyways?

      Suddenly Jean gave a small chuckle, “Nice one, Allis. You really had us going there for a sec.”

      “I’m serious.” You said, “I don’t know who Allis is.”

      Hanji suddenly leaned in front of you, “Do you know who we are?”

      You nodded, “Well, yeah. But you don’t exist. And I would really like to wake up from whatever freaky dream this is.”

      “Allis, what are you talking about?” Armin asked tentatively.

      “I’m not Allis!” You snapped, “My name is (Y/n)!”

      “What’s going on in here?” The room grew silent.

      The soldiers gathered at the foot of your bed parted, allowing a new figure to step through. Your mouth gaped slightly as they approached.

      “L-Levi?”
So, I'm still working on my other stories, but inspiration hit me like a brick yesterday, so I had to write this.
