Literature Text

You slowly trudged through the deep piles of snow, silently berating yourself for leaving your friend's house so late. Even though the emergency weather broadcast had warned against going outside, you figured that you lived close enough that you could walk home before the worst of the storm hit. Ignoring your friend's protests, you shrugged on your heavy winter coat and headed outside.

Some supernatural winter being must have had it out for you, because after no less than ten minutes of walking you found yourself completely lost. You scanned the area for anything familiar, but the ever increasing amount of snow swirling around you made it difficult to see. Knowing that being stuck without shelter in the middle of a blizzard would end very badly, you began to run down the streets in a panic, desperately searching for anything that could help you find where you were. You were so focused that you didn't notice the figure in front of you until you collided with them, sending both of you tumbling into the snowdrifts.

"I'm so sorry! Are you okay?!? I was just looking for my house and I didn't notice yo-" The other person cut you off with his hand as he began to stand and shake the snow off.

"It's fine, I wasn't paying attention either." He glanced up and, after deeming himself mostly snow-free, stuck out his hand to you, "My name's Mathias."

"(y/n)," You replied, taking his hand and pulling yourself out of the snow. You couldn't help but notice his crazy hairstyle. Was it even possible for hair to stand up like that?

"So what's someone like you doing out in this storm?" Mathias asked, snapping you out of your thoughts on his gravity defying hair.

"I was coming back from a friend's house and misjudged how bad the storm would be," You hesitated before adding, "I'm sort of lost right now."

You cast your eyes to the ground, suddenly embarrassed about your predicament. You noticed that the snow was coming down hard enough now that the tops of your shoes had a thin layer of snow, despite only being still for a few minutes. You silently hoped that Mathias would go away so that you could resume your search before the weather worsened. You jumped when Mathias snapped his fingers in front of your eyes.

"Hello? Earth to (y/n). Did you hear anything I just said?" You slowly shook your head, blushing at being caught spacing out. Your expression quickly shifted to one of confusion when a huge grin broke out on Mathias's face.

"I was saying that you could stay at my place until the storm passes. I live right there," He said pointing to a house a ways down the street, "And I don't think it would be a good idea for you to be wandering the streets right now."

'He has a point, if I walk around too much longer I'm going to turn into a human popsicle.' You thought, deliberating to yourself.

After a bit you turned to him and gave the slightest of nods. It took you by suprise, however, when his huge grin returned and he seized your wrist, all but dragging you to his door. You struggled to remove his hand, but he either didn't notice or didn't care and continued to drag you along. By the time you had arrived at his house, you had given up, determining that he wasn't going to let go anytime soon.

Mathias slammed open the door and pulled you inside. You glanced around your new surroundings, noticing the coat rack filled completely with heavy winter coats, hats, and the occasional scarf. They all appeared to be different sizes as well. You concluded that he wasn't the only one living here. Mathias let go of your wrist and cupped his hands around his mouth.

"Hey, I'm back! And I brought a friend!" Mathias suddenly bellowed into the house, causing you to jump. Did he really need to be so loud?

It was then you realized he had announced you as his friend. Before you could question him about it, four other men walked into the room. You froze when all of their eyes landed upon you. You somehow managed a smile and a simple wave. Seeking a distraction from their gazes, you decided on taking off your jacket and shoes, not wanting to flood their house with melted snow.

"(y/n) here was shivering and nearly frozen to death before I came by and saved her from the snow!" Mathias boasted to his housemates. You raised a questioning eyebrow at his story from where you were searching for an empty space on the coat rack. After finally finding a spot you gave a mental cheer.

"I doubt that what really happened, Mathias," You glanced over that the emotionless blond swiftly approaching you.

"My name is Lukas," He said and turned to point at the other housemates in turn, "This is Tino, Berwald, and my little brother Emil."

You noticed that Emil seemed to blush and turn away at the 'little brother' comment. You turned to the rest of them and gave a polite nod of your head. You began to explain your situation, correcting Mathias's outrageous story. After you finished Mathias suddenly wrapped his arm around your shoulder.

"Now that that's out of the way, you might as well make yourself comfortable. The storm only looks like it's going to get worse from here on out!" Mathias said, vaguely gesturing to the window where the snow had picked up speed. You silently thanked your luck that you had run into Mathias when you did, who know's what would've happened to you by now.

"You know, you're probably going to need to stay the night. We have a guest bedroom upstairs that you could use." You glanced back at...Tino was it?

"Thanks, but I couldn't possibly encroach upon you guys like that. I'll just..." You faded away as you considered your options. Heading back outside right now was suicide. You could wait until the storm passed, but you had no way of knowing when that would happen. You slowly looked back to Tino who was wearing a knowing smile.

"I'll go ahead and get it set up for you," He announced before swiftly heading up the stairs, followed by Berwald. The remaining four of you headed to the living room. Mathias and Lukas both began to fight over what movie to watch. Emil sighed and left the room, muttering something about feeding his puffin. You glanced back to Mathias and Lukas where the former was standing triumphantly and Lukas was sighing and searching for a book to read, knowing that he wouldn't be able to stand whatever Mathias picked.

Lukas found a small chair in the corner of the room while Mathias took a runnning leap and landed next to you on the couch, flashing you another grin. You tried to figure out the plot of the film he picked, but there didn't seem to be much of one aside from explosions and cool looking weapons. After a while, Lukas had decided that the noise was too much and, telling you goodnight, headed to bed. Seeing as Tino, Berwald, and Emil hadn't come back either, you assumed that the rest of them had gone to bed as well. Seeing your opportunity to talk to Mathias privately, you turned to him.

"Hey," You started, causing Mathias to look at you in slight surprise, "I never got the chance to thank you for helping me out earlier."

He smiled, not a big goofy grin, just a simple smile, "It was no problem, I couldn't have just let you freeze out there could I?"

"Still, I really appreciate it." You said, turning back to the screen.

"Well you could always make it up to me," He suddenly spoke, causing you to turn back to him, "How does lunch sound? After the snow clears up of course."

You smiled and nodded, Mathias's trademark grin reappearing on his face. You both turned back to the screen, though you weren't reallly watching. Instead you were thinking of how, for the first time this night, you were grateful for being lost in the snowstorm.

First ever attempt of an x reader. Or a fanfic in general. Don't know if I'll write another, if I do it won't be for a while. I definitely need to improve my writing skills first.

Edit: fixed the formatting so that it doesn't look like a giant wall of text anymore.
